Observe the intriguing architecture and colorful devotees at Cao Dai Temple, the seat of a syncretist movement combining Buddhism, Taoism, Confucianism, and Catholicism. Built from 1933 to 1955 in an eclectic style, with intense colors reflecting its main philosophies, the temple honors Buddha, Confucius, Jesus, and Mohammad, as well as Julius Cesar and Joan of Arc. Watch daily singing performances in English set to traditional Vietnamese music, or admire dragon-wrapped columns and an ornate sphere under the watchful left eye of Cao Dai. This temple, blending neo-Gothic, Baroque, and various Eastern styles, lies 90 km (56 mi) from Ho Chi Minh City, close to the Cambodian border. I am torn in writing this review. Frankly I would not travel the 3 hours it takes to get here just to see this place, but as to the place itself it is very beautiful, so I am rating it based on that. We went as part of a tour, and arrived to watch the midday ceremony which was very nice. The church and the grounds are all very beautiful and you can easily spend an hour here just looking around and observing. There are some monkeys around, but they do not really bother people. There were people with short here, but it is not really allowed - nonetheless they do not stop you. You do need to take off your shoes when entering and are not allowed to walk in front of the church during the ceremony. All in all very nice, but would only suggest as part of a larger tour or if you are in the area. I am not sure on the entry fee as this was part of a tour.
I came here when there was a ceremony that many people take part of. I felt it very holy. The place is very big an colourful.
